Greetings,I'm taking the CWI in June, D1.1. I read that the "Certification Manual for Welding Inspectors" is the way to go in prepping for the fundamentals portion. Any advise on getting a hold of a copy for Cheap-cheap in Washington? Can't afford the $180.Thanks for your time...
Reply:What code are you testing to?
Reply:The book used when I took the 1 week prep course was Welding Inspection Technology by AWS.
Reply:I'm taking the D1.1. I'm a bit nervous, though I have the guidance of my current Welding program instructors. One of them is even going to attend with me. He has a CAWI through the API 1104.
Reply:I will definitely check out the Welding Inspection Technology by AWS. Thanks!
Reply:The practical portion of the test seemed the most difficult to me. Practice using your inspection measuring tools and paint your weld samples gray to match what they give you. Also learn about MT.
Reply:I'm not sure if prestudying will help too much. The biggest part to know is what is where in your code book. The first day your instructor should show you how to tab your code book. When you "tab out" all the metric pages and the annexes it's really not that big of a book.Good luck.
Reply:Thanks so much for the advise! |
