the picture pretty much speaks for itself.Mrs. Oxy has never welded except once messing around with my tig for about 20 minutes.  After 30 minutes of mig welding, this is one of the best welds.trying out ZTFab's mig like tig technique:the left one is Mrs. Oxy... the one on right is me.1/8" hot rolled, Lincoln sp170T C-3. Reply:all kidding/jabbing aside, its pretty cool to get a second hand in the garage... even more cool when its someone that's special to you.  I know a lot of you are pros, and some of you weld because you have to.  For us hobby guys, we have to justify our shop time to our significant others.  Doing it as a living is one thing, but staying in the garage for hours on end to try to perfect that perfect, proper bead, and for what? a hobby?  and then having to fight about how much time you are "allowed" or "should" stay in the garage.  I know there are other hobbyists here, and i know even the pro-welders wish their significant others would spend time with them in the shop.  I guess i can count my self lucky.how many of your marriages could have been saved if your wife enjoy spending time with you while you make stuff in the garage/shop?  how many of you would have a happier marriage if you can say "i'll hold this baby, tack it in for me... right there."  just think, next superbowl..... you have a client thats been breathing down your neck about his wrought iron fence... you could just say, to your wife "honey, its the superbowl, fence is all tacked up, why dont you just go ahead and weld it up while i watch the game?  i'll give you a back rub later"three hours later, after your buddies went home drunk as skunks, your wife comes in.. "yup, its all ready to go to the powder coater tomorrow morning"gah... a man can dream.....
Reply:oxy said;she's already got a head start on sewing. I can sew OK, good enough to sew up my own cloths when i had to.Sewing isn't that far from welding anyway. its just like welding, you're bonding one piece to another... same difference.
