Reply:My son asked me to build him a stand for an aquarium. It ships out to Nebraska today. It knocks down flat & the legs have furniture levelers instead of bolts. The bolts were just for paint. Reply:Annamel/RAW those butterfly chairs have been bugging me (no pun intended) - racking my brain trying to figure out where I had seen them. Reply:A few of my pieces mix of wood and metal. The big table is maple bowling alley with Black walnut inlays. It has an I beam spine with 3" square tube legs. The slat bed pic shows the wood more than the metal but the metal work was way more involved than it looks. It has two 1"x2" barsthat run from the top of the head board around to the top of the foot board. The slats have threaded inserts (wood screws with machine screw threads inside) The client needed it to break down for transport wanted to see the allen head fastners yet still have them flush. I ended up drilling a 1/4" through hole (the long way through the 2") I then drilled a 3/4" hole in the outside face dropping in a piece of 3/4" round bar welding it, grinding it smooth drilling another 1/4" through hole and then doing a flat bottomed counter sink for the allen head bolts. 44 times! The mission style bed in the thumbnail pic uses 1x2, 1x1 , and 3/4 x 3/4 square tube. It has 6 dovetailed blackwalnut drawers that slide under it too. Attached ImagesLast edited by dichdoc; 08-18-2011 at 11:33 AM. |
