Reply:Out of that list I'd go with the MM211 in the bang for the buck dept.  It's a nice machine and reasonably priced.  It's plenty enough to do the majority (if not all) of race fab you'd need with MIG.  For most road, circle track and drag cars the 211 will be plenty big enough and big enough for all but the beefiest off road.  I find that the thicker material I use is for trailers and pit equipment and what's too big for the MIG I use stick.Enough stuff to build and repair wrinkled up race cars or bring a classic back to life...
Reply:@ Cautowerks - Rip the MM211 for $1080 (http://www.weldersupply.com/productd...&ID=36&pID=275).  Misses your 220A requirement by 9 meager Amps.  If you really need to frequently weld at 220Amps, you would be best served with a 250Amp rig.  Seems that for auto body werk, a 211 is a perfect fit. Reply:the mm211 i use in claas is much larger then that one it is wheel mounted and looks just like the mm 250 is this a older model at my class?lincoln square wave tig 175blue point mb140 mig
Reply:You are probably using the MM212, not the MM211. The 211 is a small unit that is dual voltage. The MM212 is a larger cabinet machine similar in size to the MM250-252 units.Output on the MM211 is fairly close to that of the 212, but the duty cycle is way less. The 211 is also much less expensive. If you are looking for an older machine to save some money, the MM200, MM185, MM250 DVI were all larger cabinet type machines with decent duty cycles. Output would vary depending on the machine, but any of those would do 3/8" or less with no issues. The MM185 would be the least powerful of the lot followed by the DVI. The MM200 would be the oldest of the bunch, but is still one of the nicest migs ever made..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I used a mm250 (I think?) thing was a beast of a machine. If you want new, Lanse just did a video on the HTP 2400. Or how about a hobart. I haven't read a single complaint about a hobart (or htp for that matter mig welder)http://store.cyberweld.com/hobmigwel.htmlTorchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:With the MILLER rebate the 211 seems the best buy for the buck.

Reply:Dan here really likes his Hobart Ironman 230. It's probably one of the better deals out there for a cabinet sized machine new on a budget..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Lincoln has a rebate program in progress. Here's info. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...t_moneymatters
Reply:I just bought the Ironman 230. Welding Tips and Tricks has a nice review on it?
Reply:Im thinking about the Lincoln 256 machine, cant swing the spool gun, but  I think this would be a great machine. For what its worth Kyled123, my cousin has an older Ironman, its had a very rough life, he has a contracting company and is always welding something. The machine has performed awesome! He bought the spool gun for it when he bought some  alum body dump trucks, that worked well also. The machine is still going strong.....
Reply:If your looking at a used machine, dont be afraid to look into an older Esab 250 mig. Them older Esabs were excellent machines performance and durability wise.If I was looking at a new mig machine, I'd seriously consider one of the newer Thermal Arc 3 in 1 units.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720

Reply:I'm not a big Miller fan, but I really like the 251/252.  I have used a 212, and was not happy with it. but I'm also biasedWhen it comes to buying used, you have to be careful.
