i picked up a cheap mig welder a few months back, it was at a pawnshop for $200 so i grabbed it. its a Decastar 150e, i don't expect it to perform like a miller, but i read some decent reviews about it, im not totally convinced yet.it seems to work better on the higher amp setting rather then the lower. the biggest problem i have is the flux wire getting stuck at the tip. most of the time i can only get about 20 secs of welding when it gets stuck, i remove the tip, clean with tip cleaners, install new tip, tried different wire speed settings, adjusted the tensioner, nothing seems to work. i've only tried the wires that came with the machine so far, .035 flux with .035 tips. im getting a bottle of gas next week and ill try a diff wire.anyways onto the gun, its looks extremely cheap, its about 3 ft long, plastic, basically looks like something you would find in the dollar store. i couldnt find any mig guns for the decastar welder, so does anyone know if they are universal? or know of any that will fit this rig? i was thinking about picking up a miller, but i dont have the $1200 to spend right now, and for how much i'll actually use it i might just try to get this working up to par. because i read quite a few reviews and mostly everyone had good things to say..thanks for any help
Reply:Look for a Tweeco gun; they have adapters and can fit most machines. As for not having $1200 for a Miller, you could have saved up $2-300 more and searched out a Miller, Hobart, Lincoln 175/ 180 welder used and had NONE of these issues. These machines are up for grabs used all the time for $400-600, many times with a cart, bottle, hood, etc. included. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:yea i agree, i couldnt find anything local tho, i basically only want it for body work, i have a stick welder i use most of the time. i just found a Bernard Q200 Mig Gun on kijiji, not sure if it will fit tho. is there anyway to find out for sure?

Reply:The 'euro' fitting is one of the most common fitting types for mig guns these days. The picture below is of the euro end that is on the actual mig gun itself.Sounds like you have one of those mig guns that are made specifically for that machine.  This as you are finding out makes it really have to fit another mig gun.  I guess your torch looks something along the lines of this mig gun  that you can see on this page then?
