The A-Arms in a Pantera only have about 2.5 degrees of caster. I built new a-arms in similar style to the originals with about 7 degrees of caster.
Reply:Also doing some clean up in an MGB compartment including a tank which removes the washer fluid from a hoke bottle. The aluminum tank fits the recess in the firewall:

Reply:The MG is a V6 conversion. I have been driving it a couple years. I have the engine out working on some stuff so I thought I would clean up the wiring and a few things:The Pantera has been a long project. Not enough time to do too much to it right now. Tons of home made parts. Too much work and fabrication to list:

Reply:Why so much caster? I put about that much into an off-road suspension, I thought a street application would use much less.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:Most cars use a bit more. It brings a lot of stability. Most older cars which did not have power steering don't have much. Newer vettes I understand are up to about 11.
Reply:And I meant to mention, I did add power steering.

Reply:Caster is not a tire wearing angle. Typical caster in modern cars is 4-6 degrees.
Reply:Is that a 65 or 66 MGB? Beautiful work!mike
Reply:Thank you,it's a 64. Tried to keep it stock looking but tried to fix a lot of things I didn't like. Coil over front suspension, coil over mix in the rear, 199 Toyota window regulators, electric servo operated heater controls, and a lot more.

Reply:It is a GM 3.4l crate engine (2.8 based). It is actually a very common conversion and quite simple to swap. Classic conversions sells motor mounts, trannie mount (T5) and exhaust headers. Headers fit inside frame rails and conversion is pretty straight forward:http://www.classicconversionseng.com/
Reply:I should mention the 2.8/3.4 is a 60 degree engine which helps keep the exhaust in the frame rails.
Reply:Thanks for the info, I forgot the name of the place at the moment, think it's Sunbeam Bob, but they sell a kit for 600,includes headers but minus the stang 2 v6. Other than the motor mounts the only mod to the car is removing /replacing some sheet metal by the tranny. Nice work on the MG by the way, nice & clean.Millermatic 211 Lincoln Idealarc 250-250, ~500lb water cooled tig |
