Well. Figured I would show everyone some of my work. I'll start off with some high school projects and eventually work up to the present. Any questions, tips or tricks are certainly welcome. I'll start off with a roughly 1/3 scale mini trike I built my senior year in high schoolIt was powered by an 8hp Briggs engine and used an '84 Tecate swing arm and rear axle assembly. It was pretty quick but never turned very well. Haha. I'll post more a little later. -HCF
Reply:Here's a headache rack I built for a friends '05 duramax. Here are some shots of our tower project from the second year of the Fab/Weld program at LCCAbout a 3/8" fit up error filled with 7018. This is actually vertical up. Picture is sideways. The overall project for our group.
Reply:Yep. The ugly dude next to the .22 target is me. I actually got extra credit for this project in class. One of the instructors wanted one so I built two and got to keep this one for building them. Some shop humor. Yes, it's SCH80. In my defense, I was lifting it onto the table. Reply:Drive chuck for a line spooler I fixed while I was working in a local rigging shop. A pic of the whole machine. Grill guard mount for my Ranger
Reply:Some pics of my tool box. I built it as a senior project at LCC. Well, that's all the random cool stuff I have pictures of. The rest of the pics are just from work. I'll post those a little later. Thanks for looking.
Reply:some cool stuff. I like your shirt!  have you finish the tike?  the 22. target are sweet.Pound to fit, paint to match

Reply:Modern Machinery (the company that bought Madill's parts, drawings, etc.) just flew my boss up to Vancouver Island in Canada to look at the inprocess Madill 3800C that is being built for the Logging Show. We are in the market for another so they want our name on it for the Show. Reply:Yeah. Nicholson purchased Madill from them I guess Modern will still be the distributed for the US but they don't do much else. That's just what I've heard.Last edited by HCF; 03-02-2011 at 12:38 PM.

Reply:Nice work!
Reply:Thanks DCC. It's been a long time coming but I feel that I have the skills now to build whatever I may need. I'll post some more recent pics later.

Reply:I love old riggin pictures! Geeze. Now I'm excited. I was on another forum the other day and saw that there was one of Huffman & Wright's old 046 rubber mount machines being painted up and sent to New Zealand. The strange part is that my dad had worked under that tower in the 80s.
Reply:Ok. Here are some more pics of random stuff .035 spray on bushingsSome production work we did. Small structural work. And some full pen joints we did for a bridge project
Reply:Good work young sir. Only 1 welding hood? Keep a spare in your vehicle the day you need it.  (nothing expensive, just one to complete the job for the paycheck) Just like when your tape measure breaks.some real nice work, I really like the tool box! that thing is sweet.                                                               Bob

Reply:Yeah. Photobucket is being stuck up. The pics will work on the 21st of this month. I guess you can only put so many pictures on there in a certain amount of time. Sorry fellas. That's my screw up.

Reply:Well. I got photobucket figured out. Here are a few recent weld pics. First one was a 3/8" gap in a 10ga formed pan. (not cleaned up yet. Sorry for the berries)The other welds are fillets on 10ga as well. These were with good fit up. These are .035" hard wire with 75o2 25ar shielding gas ran horizontal. Let me know what you think.

Reply:Thanks D&O. I'll try and post some more pics later.
Reply:Here's something that's new to me, wire welding stainless. I was pretty stressed out in the beginning but I think I figured it out. The first pic is of my 4th ever weld with 308ss wire. The following pics are some water diffusers I fit up. Any tips and tricks for welding SS are appreciated. More later. Thanks for looking.
Reply:I enjoyed the thread, thanks for posting.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.
Reply:Thanks for looking. Check in from time to time. I post stuff any time I have a couple minutes.

Reply:Jdustu: thanks. I wish I could tig weld like you. I was looking at your web page and I have to say, very nice work.
Reply:I really like that tool box, hell I'd like to have a toolbox like that. Looks real sturdy and secure. Good job.
Reply:SR20: Thanks for the kind words. It is actually completely water tight. The skins were stitched (1"-6" inside. Overkill I know) and then the rest was sealed with some kind of fancy paintable sealer. Inside and out. I built it this way so I can put it on my welding rig whenever I get it done.
Reply:Here's a little update. I finally got to run some dual shield at work again. Haha. I know the vertical ups aren't perfect but they're free of undercut. The last pic is one that I'm pretty proud of. The slag just popped off on it's own. Like it does when you weld 7024. Here's a bonus pic of what one of the weldments looked like. That's all for now. Thanks for looking.
Reply:Cool stuff!  Very cool trike. Interseted in selling the gas tank?? Had to ask.
Reply:@ pipehack: I was just thinking that the tank was for sale. But, the tank on it now and the one in the mock ups aren't the same tank. Haha. The whole machine is sitting in my garage waiting for someone, mostly me, to get the $$ to buy an 8hp Briggs and a torq verter. I'll snap a pic of it one of these days. Anyhow, thanks for looking.
Reply:Here's what I have devoted my breaks at work to the last couple weeks. Re worked my little table into a roll me around table. Works great for gathering up all the tools I think I'll need for the day working across the shop. Let me know what you think
Reply:Havent had time to update this in quite a while. I've been working swing shift at a local aggregate equipment company. So here's a couple pics. Sub arc. Joint filled half way. Ran out of wire so I snapped a pic. Some round work I got to do last week. Some metal core spray beads on 1/4" ms
