...are these just specialty rods for special jobs? Can they be used on any material?I ask because there is a CL ad from a guy who has a bunch to sell. $40 for 10lbs. Just wondering if I should pick some up to have around.

Reply:Are these stick electrodes like 308L?I have some in 3/32 I got for free. They work on stainless or carbon steel. Makes a nice looking bead and the slag pops off as it cools. They weld pretty good on my little 80amp inverter.That's a good price if you want to weld stainless. Reply:$40 for 10 lbs is a good price, if they are something you can use. 308L is the most useful stainless filler alloy for most things you'll find to weld in stainless.
