Hey all, New to the site here but I have a few questions about a welder I picked up from an auction. I bought it without doing all the research needed and now I have a welder that will do everything I would ever need but It says to only hook it up to 460 to 575v power. Is there anything that would be able to be done inside to let it work with lower power settings? I know its a relabelled miller xmt 304 and they seem to have the capability to run a full range of power and single or 3 phase power. If anyone knows a way to not turn this machine into scrap and my money down the toilet it would be greatly appreciated.ThanksJordan
Reply:There are XMT's that run on different voltages too and not all of them can be used on 230v single phase power. I think you got what ya got and if it doesn't say the voltage you need on the info label on the back of the machine, you'll need to sell it and get one that will work for you.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Are there and transformers that could convert 240 into 480. I am in Edmonton AB in a residential area so I doubt getting a larger service is viable.
Reply:480 and 600V are not normally used in single-phase, so even though you didn't mention it, it's probably a 3-phase only machine. A transformer won't do you any good there. It doesn't look good. |
