Hello,I have had my welder approximately a year. Since then I have been using it with the tip recessed. I tend to work on metal from 24 gauge up to 1/4 inch. Is this recessed too far?Thank you,Brandon
Reply:If you're not spraying I'd say yes. In fact way too much.Matt
Reply:What do you mean by spraying?
Reply:Spray transfer mode. If you have to ask then you're not.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:Having the tip that far back would force you to crank it up.It causes the stick-out to be too long.Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:1/8" recess is about normal. Measure yours and see.
Reply:Thanks for the responses. Would this be remedied by getting a longer tip or a shorter nozzle? Thanks,Brandon

Reply:Yup, just cut down the nozzle. When I got my MIG the LWS only had longer nozzles so I picked a couple up and turned them down in the lathe. A hacksaw would do the same job.
Reply:Ah, OK, well that would be much easier and I also wouldn't have to order all new parts. Thanks,Brandon
