Hello everyone, I will introduce myself; My name is Mariano and I live in Portugal, Lisbon.I am new in the Welding industry, I have completed a welder formation of 2 months about a year ago (Mig-Mag and electrode).Job for a welder is not easy to find here in Portugal and i managed to start working in the automotive industry on a factory linked to Wolksvagen (only doing small Mig welds, nothing interesting to my development as a welder). As I am in the night shift and alone in the shop, i have decided to bring my Inverter and practice arc welds, thats what I enjoy and think It can bring some professional future and obviously money, so as Tig that i want to learn in the future.I will show some photos of my training welds in several positions and wait for your opinions to improve.Sorry for my English, is not perfect as well as my welds, lololol.By the way, If by chance you guys have some proposals of work, even in your countrys, i am also interested, lolololol. This first set is a horizontal with 3/32 7018 rods (root and cap) and 1/8 to fill on a 10mm plate. Reply:Your welds are alright but your grinding sucks.  Grind it straight and even and your welds will look straighter and more even.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Looks like a pretty big gap to me, usually I like to get my fitup pretty darn close.  I'm no stick expert so maybe it matters less, but I'd say w/ how thin it is at the bottom of the groove you'll end up w/ a lot of material blowing through.  I could be wrong though.Oh, and you may not want to set your grinder on the wheel.  It can crack them then they explode - hurts like a mofo.Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250
Reply:I won't comment on your work as I'm just a beginner, but your English isn't bad.  In fact, you can probably write better than about 40% of the people in the US.  Well, the ones that speak English, that is, LOL.
Reply:next one is a vertical 7018 rod3/32 root and 2 pass at 75 amps1/8 hot pass and cap at 115 ampsas i dont store rods in an oven sometimes they became difficult to start and during the weld they seem to explode and stick, any tips? Attached Images
Reply:Hi, I've used those weco inverters lots when working in Spain, they seem to be quite popular over there, nice smooth arc in both MMA (and TIG in the models I've used), and to be honest I actually prefered welding in MMA mode with them to the Kempii mastertig. However, not saying that you can't run 7018's on them,  but they don't have the OCV to run them properly, hence why they stick and splutter a bit. I seem to remember that the OCV was only about 57v on the weco model I used. Try using 7016's they should work better and are considered better for rooting pipe and plates (normally DCEN), as they only need about 60/65v OCV (depending on the brand) and seem to be becoming more and more popular in the industry in that part of the world.Your welding looks a little rough but ok and with a bit more practice you'll soon get there, you need to get good with the grinder (and TIG) if you ever want to be a top welder (and I've worked with some very good portugese welders) as the secret to good welding is all in the prep.PS. Pm me if you want the name of an agency in Spain that I know, whose boss is portugese.
Reply:Hard to see but looks like the trouble prepping with cutoff wheel not abrasive disc because he should be able to bevel that off nice.
