Binzel TIG torches

I am relatively new at Welding especially Tig welding. Picked up a HTP Invertig welder and then bought their water cooler and torch setup. Along with this purchased their rotary switch that mounts on the Tig torch. I'm finding this a fairly uncomfortable setup. I've wandered around the internet and found the Binzel company that sells torches with built in controls on the handles. Reply:Dont think I would buy the torch just for the switch. I have the same welder and cooler. Mine was ordered with a #20 flex head torch along with the foot pedal. I would like to get a hand control for my welder just to do out of position welding. But wouldnt use it all the time. The foot pedal is more convenient.Using the hand control adds a lot to the learning curve. A foot pedal would make it easier to learn.Just my 2 centsYou bought a really nice welder. Reply:I agree. I like the welder and I have the foot pedal and it works great. I just don't like their hand control they sell so am trying to locate something that works better. Since the welder was made in Italy by Stehl and Binzel sells torches that work on the Stehl machines I'm hoping I'll be able to locate a comparable torch from them that would work on our machines.  If I manage to locate something and manage to acquire it at a reasonable cost I'll post info and reviews from the Novice welder.Harold MulderMiller 211 AutosetHTP 201 Invertig with water coolerHardinge Cataract Quick Change Lathe
Reply:I believe this torch is for remote panel control of the welding parameters, allowing you to preset the ramp up in amps, pre gas flow, start amps etc for footless control.  It is not an amperage control as some people might think.  Many people prefer this, and learn to weld quite well with it this way.  Many DC tigs have no control at all.  Its an excellent torch though.  Its not for everyone though as already has been mentioned.  A lot of guys want the smaller bodied designs.   Depending upon your connection (post some pictures) you can actually find some really good torches on E bay that are high quality and exactly what you are looking for.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
