While looking for books or videos about metal working and welding I found:High Steel about these Indians from Quebec who go up on steel as great iron workers in New York.Once I got pulled out of the shop and sent 35' up in March to tighten the bolts after the iron workers - I loved it.  All for $9/hours - crazy. However, these guys have balls of iron (and very loosey goosey safety habits)...http://www.nfb.ca/hd/high_steel/    (13 minute video in HD) orhttp://www.nfb.ca/film/high_steel/  (same but easier to download)Anyone have other things to watch?`Miller Syncrowave 180SDLincoln WeldPak 100 with gasHandheld Milwaukee BandsawO/A Cutting Torch

Reply:I know a guy who paints radio towers, can paint a 200' tower in an afternoon by hand and makes $600-3000 each. He'll do 2-3 in a weekend and work minimum wage all week with a smile.

Reply:All that for a freakin lightbulb? They should figure out a way to have the bulp on a pulley system so that it can be lowered to them instead of climbing a quarter mile into the air to get to it. though, that would be a base jumpers dream come true. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:The Mohawk Indians have a strong tradition of ironworking. They have manned one of the two raising gangs on World Trade Center 1 these past few years. If you havent watched the first episode of 'Rising: rebuilding ground zero' on Discovery, you should. Its really good.Originally, the way non-europeans walk helped the Mohawks move with such ease on the iron. I'm talking about not walking heel-toe like us white people. Watch how Cody Lundin walks on Dual Survival and you can see the difference.Weldanpower 225 G7Ironworkers Local #24
Reply:I actually learned a lot from watching Spud Monkeys. How they walk, and shimmy up beams. Granted I've never been more than 15 stories working exposed, so.... No thanks to skyscrapers..Neat movie though, quite a contrast from home to work.Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120
