so i saw some hand forged tent stakes on the net and decided id try come camping stuff. they were made of rebar. so i cut some 1foot pieces and put one in the vice, fine. so did another, fine. did a third one in the vice as before and heated with propane torch as before and when i bent it a little past 90 it broke. is it the carbon content in the rebar? i have posted pics so you can see what im makin. also can u weld this stuff with a mig. Reply:it would be bent at an acute angle. thats what i meant by bending past 90. had to go back to HS math to figure that outZach WareOwnerMid-GA Outdoor & Equipment ServiceByron GA478-960-2014
Reply:I can't comment on the metallurgical part, but. If you heat it with oxy/propane or oxy/ acetylene until it is bright orange, it will bend without breaking. As far as welding, I actually have a customer I weld rebar for. I have not found anything better than 7018. I have tried ER70S-6, Hobart Fabshield 21B E71T-11, 6010 and 6013. Again, I use 7018."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
