The fixture is bolted to the case to maintain the lug location, now we can go ahead and make the new lug on the lathe, and remove the old remains of the lug my way to hold it to remove the old lug, I have some .045 alum cutoff wheels for the 4" grinder that work great, here is how it is held, and after removing old lug new lug, I had to grind a slight radius in the lug to fit the case and have the mounting hole line up new lug set in place for trial fit Ok, the lug is made, and fit into place, next post we will weld it using a spool gun (Miller Shopmaster 300 with 30A Spool gun) because Im not so good at TIG and I only have a Lincoln Squarwave 175 and some of the portions of the casting are thick, the Lincoln is ok with 1/8" alum, but strains after that.....and my TIG skills suck..... |
