I am receiving quotes for the new esab 281I and was wondering if anyone has had any previous experience with this supplier, good or bad.Thanks,Ken

Reply:Ordered from them several times.  I've always been satisfied.  Only had a problem with one order.  As soon as I brought it to their attention is was rectified immediately.  Anyone can make a mistake, it's how they deal with it that counts.  I would recommend them to anyone.  I've bought from the direct and from them on e-bay.

Reply:I have to say when I got my PT275 I gave my LWS the opportunity to match the price. They happily admitted that sometimes they could and sometimes they couldn't In this case they could. Not only that but spending that money there left a pretty serious imprint on who I was. I ended up getting some other good deals and preferential treatment after that and I am sure that had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately two years later I don't recognize anyone in the store and since I have been slow I'm just the small timer who pops in every once in a while.Lincoln precision TIG 275Millermatic 140 MIG

Reply:There are some good reasons not to buy big ticket items online.Granted you can go to the manufacturer if the dealer stiffs you, but the time that'll take is  an issue.The local guy has a local reputation to keep up. He wants and anticipates your repeat business and your word of mouth recommendations.   Generally, the only time people talk about online dealers is when they have a problem that doesn't get solved.   They tend not to become effusive about the good experiences they had.  It just doesn't come up. The local guy is also available to you if you need to sue his ***. Try that with some dealer in another state.  You will have to go to the foreign state sue him in his local courts because  he will not have established sufficient contacts with your forum state to make him subject to the courts in your state.   Now if those considerations are not of issue for you then  - - well they aren't. When I buy online I never use anything but my AMEX. If I have a problem - any problem - AMEX solves it.   If they have to, they just get me my money back, forcing the dealer to pay to get their crap shipped back to them, if they want it.  AMEX even doubles the warranty on most things.  So, while it is not a fast process;  armed with the sure knowledge that AMEX has my back, I can just purchase a replacement.I bought my TA 211 from Cyberweld.  They  base in in my home state but I didn't know that when I ordered it.  I went back to them to replace the Work Clamp with the one that is pictured in the literature.
