Well I started this skid today. I will hold an SA-200, 3 bottles, and some tools. Plain and simple. I started it at the shop this morning and then brought all the stuff home to build in the driveway. Mainly to piss of the D!ck neighbor that runs his leaf blower EVERYDAY!    And I get tired of being at the shop all the time. Its nice to get outside and work some!I will post more pictures when its done. Attached ImagesLast edited by jreynoldswelding; 11-18-2010 at 06:25 PM.
Reply:This was as far as I got before the neighbors I like started coming home. Just some rusty old "scrap" iron. Attached Images
Reply:Looks good, why did you weld that corner vertical instead of rolling the fram to a flat position? Reply:Nice welding cage. I've just one question. When putting it together did you think about letting the four vertical angle irons stick up higher and then notch the horizontal pieces in lets say 6inch below the top of the vertical piece. At which point you could burn the holes in the vertical angle for your lifting points.Harold MulderMiller 211 AutosetHTP 201 Invertig with water coolerHardinge Cataract Quick Change Lathe
Reply:Looks good, JR!!! That should work very well for ya. Nice lookin' welds, as for the verticals if you can do it, why not?                                                           MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:I love it when 7018 slag lifts off like that. I love trying to see if I can get the entire amount of slag to come off in one piece on my coupons. kind of a bad habit methinks but hey, it's fun!

Reply:Very nice.  I'm actually in the process of (re-)building one myself.  How easy or hard is it to get those bottles out?One thing you might consider doing with those lifting eyes is either rounding them up a bit or 45-ing the top corners as well as rotating them 90 degrees so that they run lengthwise with the machine.Last edited by mb_welder; 11-21-2010 at 06:12 PM.

Reply:You know, I completely overlooked how the eyes were made out of angle iron.  The upper legs will probably bend inwards with time, but it won't effect the performance.  From a glance, it looked like flatbar.  I would still 45 the outer corners though!Looks good, nice job.May I suggest one more set of fork pockets? With pockets on the ends it could be  stabbed from the end for loading on a truck bed that has sides and also lengthwise it would make less of a blind spot and thus a narrower "ram" for the forklift operator.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 11-22-2010 at 11:30 AM.

Reply:Very nice  jreynoldswelding. I like the stops on the floor plate for the cylinders to keep them from sliding. That is one thing I forgot to put on my cylinder tote. And I like how heavy duty it is.Is the round pipe what you had on hand or was that so it will "drag" nice over gravel if you have to move it a little?"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:JR, cage looks good, I have a smaller machine on a skid and I like the weld on D rings like for truck tow hitch plates, plenty strong for 2 or 3 SA 200's and won't need shackles unless you are using steel chokers. Also fall flat when not in use.  That 3rd bottle , I can't make out what it is, are you running a suit case with hard wire and gas off the SA, I would like to try mine like that some time, or maybe your DC tigging? Got to love the SA 200, deserve all the love and care you can give them. Reply:Stickman, My LN-25 has a CC/CV setting on it, just set to CC and and it works pretty good, really cant weld small stuff with it(cant turn it into the lower settings). They make a CV Adapter for it but that thing is a $1000 bucks! You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
Reply:JR. do they still make the CV adapter for them or are they obsolete? also if you get a chance can you snap a picture of a MIG weld with gas off the SA200. I have a LN-25 but I think I have to change guns to run MIG think I have a K-126 Flux core but that's from memory."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251   Syncrowave 300   30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200   1 short hood    SA250    SAM 400
Reply:My Super S32P has a CC/CV switch also, but its never been used because I always had CV. I knew about FCAW with bigger wires on CC, I just never heard of solid on CC. I actually would have lost that bet! I never knew it was possible."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Kolot, if you have a FCAW only gun, and the K126 I believe IS FCAW only, then yes you will need a mig gun."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Just curious , but how did you set the machine inside the frame after already being built ? And with the bottles do you have to lift them out the top, or is there room to manuver them out the side?safety last
