HF regular helet or skull?

Are skull welding helmets tacky?  Should I go with the regular style HF welding helmet?
Reply:I am freaking out, I read a post that I will ruin my eyes with a cheap helmet.  If I were to go with a good helmet are preedglas good and which speedglass to get?

Reply:I have a speedglas 100v I just got for Christmas.  It has three sensitivity settings and 4 shade selections (8-12).  They're not solar powered, but that just means there's less to go wrong; a pair of batteries for it cost $2, which supposedly last 500 hours.  I think it's a great helmet, well fitting and light weight.  I've been using a generic auto dimming one you see on ebay, with the carbon fiber graphic, which works fine, but is a bit on the heavy side, and after it took a dip in the quenching tub, it doesn't seem to work well for tig welding.  You can pick one up for around $135, like this one:  http://store.cyberweld.com/spwehe100se.html
Reply:I have 3 of the northern tool $49.99 hoods and they work pretty well mostly you want to get a adjustable shade hood and a fast 1/20,000 or better flash time.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.

Reply:Northern tool wear it out take it back and get another one start the rotation again.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.

Reply:i have the large view northern tool helmet and realy like it, it actualy has 4 sensors instead of 2 like alot of the cheap ones it looks pretty good anyway as far as the cheap ones go i definetly recomend it they put them on sale for around 80-90 bucks sometimes. anyway heres a link to the one i have i guess its 120 right now but it goes on sale. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...6894_200416894
