hi looking for some help on a miller 330 a/ab, i picked this welder up a couple of years a go. it came with a miller cooling system,two torches and two foot controls.just got it hooked up last week and started trying the tig on ac,worked for about 5 minutes and the arc faded out . now i have no spark on the points and little arc on ac also i have to scratch start.dc has arc but still have to scratch start. anyone have any ideas?
Reply:u might check the points on the front of the machine , i am not sure of the exact setting or the air gap that goes between them maybe .015 u may have to clean them up a little with a fingernail file, u should be able to goto miller and download the manual for the machine , u might also check the switches on the front of it that u dont have the high freq shut off .

Reply:i cleaned and set the points still no spark.point gap for this unit is .008could it be the caps. by the points?
Reply:i am not sure , u could call miller technical support give them the serial number , they will know where to go from there sorry i couldnt be more help someone else here might be but ive always had very good luck with millerI forgot how to change this.
Reply:thanks for your help i'll start by having the caps tested.the book says .002 uf 10000 volt caps but on other websites i'am told that they are 5000 volt.scence they are not marked i,am wondering if the book is refuring to them as a pair with a total of 10000 volt?i guess they will know when i get them tested.thanks again for the help |
