brslk requested pics of my little LUV so here yall go. I posted it here b/c there has been a TON of welding done on it, and a ton of bondo for that matter i simply copied and pasted from another boardSo I have been out of town for the last two weeks (army crap) stopped into work last Friday just to see what has been going on. Talked to the guys I work with and the said "hey come check out this homie project we been working on." I walk to the back and I see this.WTF....IS THAT MY TRUCK?????  They finished out the topRear windows and both side windows are now Lexan  8) Oh and the coup de grâce...that nasty dash that I ripped out? I now have a new traveling buddyThe oil and water gauges are his eyes. They also fixed the brakes, done ALL the bodywork on the cab and fenders, and one of them brought me in a set of seats. To give you an idea of what they started with.we chopped the top 2" first one any of us has done....and last any of us will EVER do.I officially take back about 3/4 of all the bad stuff I have ever said about those assholes. I'm telling you, they almost made a grown man cry last Friday.
Reply:next run of picsafter putting the bed back on it looked a bit goofy...bed was WAY too long.Soooo......12" gonepatching rust and shaved fuel fill holedidnt like the look of the tiedown railand one more of the dash...just because
Reply:and as it sits right nowgot one bed side donetailgate mountedran into a problem with the tailgate...hit the rollpan...soooo
Reply:that's cool, great bunch of guys to do something like that when they could have been off doing there own thing I guess, your a lucky guy to be liked so much truck looks cool, any thoughts of eventually replacing the plexi with glass? badass chop job but glass would make it finished really nice, one of the hardest parts of the chop though is the glass miller 330a bp TIGmiller dynasty 200DX TIGmillermatic 185 MIGthermal dynamics cutmaster 101 plasma cuttersnap-on YA5550 plasma cutterhypertherm powermax 30 plasma cutterbaileigh CS225 cold sawetc....
Reply:I love when people do stuff like this....That truck looks bad @ss    Not sure if I can say that in here....Anyway, also saw something similar done to a mail jeep one time.  Looked AWESOME!  Best part is, even more people can do this because Chevy LUVs are CHEAP!    Think of what it would be like as a 4WD?
Reply:Yeah i would like to get rid of the lexan, but so far we have broken: The rear glass, pass side door glass, and 2 windshields.  It still has no windshield yet. Oh and they said its "not for all the homies i HAVE done....its for all the ones im GONNA do" As for the 4x4 Buck, that would be fun...however it would need a whole different drivetrain, the little stock 1.8 izuzu was pretty gutless. Mine has a hopped up 3.8 buick v6 with th350 trans.Last edited by larphead; 05-24-2011 at 07:15 PM.

Reply:Yeah, definetely hop up teh drivetrain....V6 or smallblock V8 would be nice.  I just like the looks of trucks when people do stuff like that.  Has to have the right lines though.  Wouldn't look good on a chevy S10, plus, it would be a PIA with the thinner metal    Make sure you keep posting pics and/or vid links
Reply:The skull looks scared sh*tless!  "OH MY GOD!!! WE'RE ALL GONNA D-oh wait, never mind..." as the skull clicks into his predicament.

Reply:Work picked up a bit. So all I have been able to do is work on the tailgate some.frenched the plate, made a patch and started the filler plate.
Reply:ha, & I was wondering where one might find a skull just the right size to fit in the dash like that miller 330a bp TIGmiller dynasty 200DX TIGmillermatic 185 MIGthermal dynamics cutmaster 101 plasma cuttersnap-on YA5550 plasma cutterhypertherm powermax 30 plasma cutterbaileigh CS225 cold sawetc....
Reply:That is .... unique. Keep working! Last summer my nephew and his buddy with a minitruck that had a hideous suspension chop done to it asked me if I wanted to help out with rebuilding the framework. What they meant was; "Would I do it?"  . The fact is, with school and work, and my own laundry list of projects waiting, I have no time. I wanted to find out if they had the gumption to put in some of their time first. I would have been only too glad to point them in the right direction, even loan them some gear if need be...They finally had it hauled out to somebodies chop shop.City of L.A. Reply:Interior is for the most part done. Still need to fab some kinda headliner and find a spot for the radio.before anyone says something about my slightly crooked circles. I cut them out with a jigsaw b/c I didnt feel like tearing down the setup on the mill to set up a fly cutter. bed and tailgate is finally ready for paint.Looked @ 4 different hardware stores for a stupid little spring loaded slide latch, Got aggravated and made one.
Reply:Thats turning out well.
Reply:looking real good ! ,  i must say>Innovations are what i leave behind for History

Reply:That is cool.  In the 80s it seemed like it was popular to put a Buick V6 in those.  That would make it a fun little ride.  It is nearly impossible to find any LUVs around here.  I drove one about a half mile years ago.

Reply:YA!!!After months of grinding 2" out of a new windshield, the guy came today and installed it and the back glass. Side glass is still lexan but with the way they curve I dont really see another (cheap) option. pics later, waiting on my buddie to post them to my facebook. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience.
