Hello new to the site, just looking for a little help. Problem I'm having when I turn on the welder all I hear is the fan, there is no buzzing. Hence the name buzz box It will carry a weld only like between 150 to 225 amps using 6013 rod. Pos and ground connections look to be solid pulling back of welder off. Its doing this with or without extension cord 3 prong 220 using 30 amp breaker. Its like its wants to weld but sticks so easy. FrustratedThank you
Reply:Not much to go wrong with these welders. My guess is that either your line voltage is incorrect or you have a bad connection in the wiring. Look for a connection that has heat discoloration and replace it, don't just tighten it. Be sure to check the voltage on the input wiring with the welder connected and turned on. If it's below 200 volts you may have a problem somewhere between your panel and the welder. For full output you need a 50 amp 240 volt power circuit to run these welders. It will run on a 30 amp breaker and 10 ga wire, but you will be severely limited in what you can do with it. Reply:The "buzz" generally only occurs while the machine is actually welding.  You'll hear it as the arc runs.If you're only able to maintain an arc at high amps it could indicate a technique problemMy suspicion is that you're not maintaining a proper arc length.  Sticking a rod sometimes occurs when your arc length is too short.  Try concentrating on keeping arc length at around 1/8".  You'll know if the arc length is too long when the arc "flares".6013 should run on AC at around 135amps.  While it's a drag rod you still have to pay attention to keeping a decent arc length."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Thank you very much for the advice,  I'll give it a shot
