Hey guys.. Was rummaging thru a fellas stuff the other day and ended up buying a pile of old DC TIG rods. About 50#s for $5. The 4' sections of .125 brass rod covered that. Couldn't turn it down. Anyways, there's a couple of weirdies in the mix but this is the last that no one seems to be able to identify. So I figured I'd try it here. It was all in the same pile but it may not even be welding rod. Thanks for any info..     d:^)  Schneeks.. ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Reply:the shape of the rod is not quite appropriate, for these shape u would need wide arc but everything is possible.i think it's not a welding rod, maybe i'm wrong

Reply:..Thanks for the replies fellas. I haven't found any reference to it anywhere on the web. And my curiosity's being over-ruled by my frustration with tryin to figure it out. Pretty sure it's copper either way, so I reckon it's bound for the recyclers next trip. It weighs about a pound, so it might get me a cup'o'coffee..    d:^)  Schneeks..ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Reply:Originally Posted by Oldiron2Why don't you list it on Craigslist, along with some good pictures, perhaps calling it "Secret Craft Treasures" or something similar; it should be worth $5 or $10 to someone. I also think it looks like material I've seen used for Stained Glass Windows, although lead is more common. Maybe some other kind of ceramics? How about checking at a crafts or hobby shop?Actually, the one shot showing the ends is good enough, but the other has too much glare to show the length or a clear top view.
Reply:I've looked all over it for any kindof identifying marks.. Nada.. Tempted to see if MAPP gas or some such would melt it. Don't know what it'd prove, tho'.. Far as the other "weirdies", turns out they were just weirdies to me..  The whole collection seems to be mostly just a pile of DC TIG rods.(ER90S-B3, ER347, 80S-D2,ER80S B2, ER80SB2L) Except for these.. Oldiron- Yeah, the pics were kindof slack.. Didn't really think there'd be much to this so I didn't break out blankets and good lights. Just held it and snapped. It's enough to get the jist of what it is, tho'..    d:^)  Schneeks..ESAB 161 LTSCommunicate & adapt, diggit.?ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
