A friend has a standup compressor, you know the one two stage job, 120 gallon tank, 175 PSI, that I can never afford, and could kill for.  Anyway, this is not my idea I shamelessly stole the idea from one of you fellows, I would give you credit if I could remember whose it was, anyway, nothing too fancy but it works great.
Reply:Have u mocked the tank up inside that or something of similar weight?HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.
Reply:Hey!  That looks awful familiar.  Great minds think alike:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=40000The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"  Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:"in fact , nothing is said that has'nt been said before" - terrence. I used to follow my favorite artist around and aww at his work , only to find out later his art were exact reflections of his past favorite artists......and i noticed how this subconciously happens to me and reflects in my work and i said this to a freind " i think all the best work is stolen , yet slightly changed maybe"  He then quoted some guy from the past, i tried to google it , i think that is it above.......nice work guys , this is probly embedded in my brain closet somewhere now to ; )        thermal arc 252i  -  millermatic 350P -   miller XMT, cp300ts, 30a 22a feeders, buttload of other millers, handfull of lincolns, couple of esabs  -   Hypertherm 1250 G3
Reply:JD239--thanks for planting this idea, it is amazing how stable that beast of a compressor is. Hope you can use one of my projects someday.WOI2LD--not true in this case, but someone once said it's the second guy that comes along that gets rich off an idea.....
Reply:Glad someone could use the idea!  I don't mind at all.  Mine has been working well.  I would do it this way again (especially since it makes my shop mobile)The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"  Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:Why does he want to make it mobile? EVERY shop I have ever been in has the comp stationary."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:As someone already asked... have you tried to load it with something that weights about the same? You did a great job with that gusset near the wheels but I have the feeling that the three pieces of flat bar that tie in the middle are going to bend to the ground when you load the compressor on it, preventing the wheels from turning freely. If you had enough clearance maybe you could tack another narrow piece of flatbar vertically under the three radious to make a T like structure. Much harder to bend than just flat bar.Mikel
Reply:It probably works fine since most compressors have a ring as their foot. The weight is not pointed at the centre, but rather at a point just inside the gussets.

Reply:As someone mentioned, the load is really closer to the wheels, there is some flex but not enough to make any difference.  The reason in my buddies case for the mobility is for sand blasting outside the garage he wanted to have it roll outside.  Works like a charm, those things aren't that heavy <300 LBS.
