My buddy made me a heat tube to warm the engine compartment of my Ingersoll-Rand tow behind diesel air compressor. It's difficult starting below 70*F, and plain old hard below 60*F. You put a torpedo heater in front of the tube and it works great.Since I am very easy going on my equipment, I wanted to be able to warm up the Commander too. Now the Commander started fine at 35*F the past couple of days. That's the coldest I've tried so far. But for when it drops below 30*F, I will probably warm it. But since the skid is kept off wheels, so it doesn't roll off on its own, I had to raise it somehow.I had some bent up beams from a demo job, so I decided to put them to use. Now, this is not pretty. It is what, "non professional weldors", would refer to as wrecking welding. Using scrap, little grinding, burn hot and heavy, get the job done and it will be ugly, but it will work. The rebar is just put into holes on each side to enable level lifting with forks. The welder and stand will never be lifted at the same time."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Actually, the compressor I leave the heat on for about 45 minutes. I like to get the block warm on the air cooled Deutz. I was told it needs a new head gasket, that's why it is hard starting.??? I will probably leave it on the welder for 30 minutes when it's under 30*F. I don't use it much, so it's not really a bother. Not like if I were to use it every day. Then I would change the oil back to 10W-30 from the 15W-40 I have in it now."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
