Been welding in school 2 days tonight they moved me to horizontal and virtical up
Reply:7018 1/8 rod Attached Images
Reply:amps were 90 dig was 50
Reply:Is that your horizontal ?Seems a bit cold for me. for a 1/8 7018 rod I like to be around 125 amps for horizontal and 110 amps for a for a vertical up groove root pass and 120 amps for a vertical up cap.You use that extra heat to your advantage and it makes your welds look much more smoother and appealing.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:Kind of Blurry, IMO.Which makes it hard to differentiate in the weld passes.Assume these were all Horizontal?

Reply:This is the other side all welds were done flat on the weld table I did not weld the two half's together were practicing on scrap the 7018 is hard to start some times but this is what the instructer wants the amps and dig set to Attached Images

Reply:we were running vertical today same settings none today are worthy of a picture lol
Reply:Screw what your instructor says. You won't know a thing until you experiment a little. What he tells you is a base to build on. 1/8 7018 on 90 is a little on the cold side for me. The hotter the better in most cases. However, I'll run a pipe all the way out at 85 amps with 6010 and 3/32 7018. |
