First of all I am new to the Tig process. I would like to set up my XMT 304 CC/CV for learning some tig. The torch set up I am looking at is the CK Flexloc 130 with the 12 superflex hose. What I'm trying to figure out is if I need the 1 piece cable assembly or the 2 piece cable assembly. I realize the XMT 304 does not have the internal gas valve so I know that I need the manual valve on the torch, but can I set up my rig so I only need the 1 piece cable? I know there is an adapter (Radnor® 53N43 5/8" - 18 RH Gas Hose X 3/8" - 24 RH TIG Power Cable Adapter ) for about $15 but will this allow me to run a 1 piece cable.I also will have the 14 pin miller pedal to use with my machine and intend to use this mostly for smaller projects and a learning tool.I have been trying to find the answer to this on the forum without posting the question but I have not been able to figure it out. Thanks!
Reply:I just got done setting up my XMT to do tig. I used a 26 series air cooled torch with a 2pc cable. It has the power cable with a lenco plug and the gas hose going to the regulator. I think if you use the one piece cable you will need the large plug that has the 90 coming off the side for the gas hose (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Just make sure you get the right connection because my XMT has lenco connections and all of the one piece plugs are dinse. As far as 1pc or 2pc, I think it is personal preference because of the weight difference. Make sure you get a cable cover because the torch will slide and the cables will land right where you just got finished welding.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:Thanks for the reply, my XMT has the dinse connectors. I would like to try and set up the 1 piece connection because I think it would be the best for the tig torch control.
Reply:Take a peak at thishttp://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=38106It's annoying.  The two piece cables usually come with near equal length gas and power lines for machines with gas solenoids and outlets on the front.  So you can clip the end off and extend the hose to your regulator with some couplings.  I've never seen a gas to gas threaded coupling, maybe someone here can chime in on that.  The one piece setup can be done easily with either the dinse adapter for gas or the adapter Tozzi uses above. Be careful with the Dinse.  There's a few types.  The one to set up a 20WC torch had a much larger inlet.Last edited by Drf255; 07-25-2013 at 06:05 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
