Welding rods

I'm new to welding. I have a Lincoln (tombstone) ACDC welding machine. I was searching the Internet and I located several boxes of 9018 welding rods (1/8) for sale. I never heard of a 9018 rod. My question are: Can I use these rods with my machine? What type of welding application are these rods for?
