110" Aluminum roller with 2 bad bores.."Save the snap ring groove and the tapped holes please"..Yeah whatever..Self explanatory pics..These suck but somebody has to do them..1/16" 4043Blah..Blah..Blah.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Zap, I sure hope you don't take this wrong, but most of your welds look like they're done by a robot!! I'm not a tig welder, but the uniformity in your's are amazing. Granted these aren't as good as the ones on the boxes or others you've posted, but I think this was a pretty challenging situation. Especially keeping the weld away from the groove.                                       MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I will have to disagree with the previous poster.  you need to add a dime and work on your consistency!  I have seen you do better work with your eyes closed.  You didn't even have to bend an electrode to get into the area that needed welding.  you are slacking and it isn't appreciated.  so go back and give me 20 more consistent beads and for heaven's sake add your dime so we can keep things in scale!Of course I am kidding about the consistency, but you did forget the dime.
Reply:Scott..The bore is 6"...I will include the dime next time..And there will be a next time..Thanks Mike..I never take anything the wrong way.........I think..There is a reason I use the smallest cap there is on the torch.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Hey Zap,Just a couple questions. Was that just a partial "wear" area & was it a complete circumference repair? At first, it looked to be a bearing seat area. Are you going to machine the welded area or is it simply a fillet to add material to ID? I did a similar job last year only on a much smaller scale. Alum.tube, 3" OD X 38"L, 1.75" bore, 2.25" dia. X 1.5" depth bearing seat. I used 5356 as that is what they specified & they had all the machining & bearing replacement done at a local machine shop that does their machining. You DO get all the fun jobs....DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Zap I wish you were in the south so I could watch you up close.  I love watching a craftsman work.  The process is as artful as the end product.
