I got a little tired of projects that require precision. To take a break from the monotony, I made something where I could eye-ball everything. 22ga copper sheet, 1/4" copper tubing, and #10 romex. The romex I used for the 2 leaf stems on the rose and as filler rod. I like how they turned out. This was also the hardest thing I have ever used the TIG for. I'd even go as far as to say that welding razor blades is easier than welding copper. Attached Images

Reply:Those are incredible!  You could probably make a killing with Valentines day around the corner....... I would take a bundle of them, plant them in a pot of long metal shavings, and let the patina grow for a bit.  Beautiful work.M.

Reply:They look real.
Reply:I'd truly appreciate it if you'd consider making another rose for sale... my wife would love one, and my tigging skills aren't up to snuff to do something like that.

Reply:Beautiful.  Absolutely beautiful.(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Wow, thanks everyone! I wasn't expecting that kind of response. Mammaogi, I have a small box full of copper clippings from when I cut the sheet. I thought It'd be cool to use them for something like you're talking about but decided the sharp metal bits would be a little dangerous to whoever ends up with them. Still, they'd go really nice with maybe a stainless steel vase with pretty rainbowed beads. I might just try it out when I get my bandsaw running again.
Reply:Neat idea, top notch work! X2 on copper tigging,a real PITA

Reply:they look great, came out a lot better than my attempts. Surprised you tiged then instead of just soldering.
Reply:Originally Posted by mammaogiI would use shavings like that green "grass" plastic that floral arrangers dump around the base of presentations. Kind of give it a softer look, and let it rust to soften the lines. I grabbed a handful as a kinda mock up on my way out the door to show the "concept" I pictured. Only have small shavings on the mill right now so it isn't quite right, close though.

Reply:Great work man. You definitely got skills. I agree with mommaogi, you could make a killing on those.

(I'm only on my second cup of coffee.)TIGing razor blades together might make some good "business cards," but I think Derilious' idea is much cooler.
