Reply:Not sure why you want to do auto body without gas, cost based? I've found that it is worth spending a bit more to get a decent machine that does the job you need done. I looked at buying a cheap box store flux core wire welder in the $300-500 range but ended up with a Millermatic 211. It will do flux core but also does gas and SS and Alum. I've had great results on thick and thin material using 75/25 gas. The initial investment may be a bit higher, but you'll love the results and you'll also have a decent machine.
Reply:Miller has a current rebate program . The 211 is on it BUT it's only until the end of August.Add a bottle of 75 / 25 and a roll of '' Easy Grind '' and you will be in heaven. Reply:Yeah i would spend the extra and go for a gas set up! I have done both FC and regular mig for autobody repair. and I agree with everyone else on here FC is too hot unless you are really experienced with sheetmetal welding..(not saying your not....lol for all I know you could be way better than I and I have been burning car bodies with a mig for ten years for a living) If you are looking for a good budget 110v mig I would seriously look into the hobart handler series of MIGs I used to own a handler 135 and loved it. I will admit though FC is awesome for welding doors and decklids shut on derby cars......lolMillermatic 30aMillermatic 210Miller thunderbolt 225 ac/dc/ccMiller HF15-1-wg tigLincoln ranger 10(honda powered)Cebora 175 mig Too damn many tools but oddly not enough...... |
