I'm getting to the point where I have so much different types of filler that I have run out of space to store it without having tubes propped against every wall in my shop......You guys know of a tig filler cabinet made just for storing this stuff... Reply:yeah that looks great but I was thinking of a sealed cabinet even though your tubes are sealed......HmmmmmmmmmmI might copy your deal and scare up some sealed tubes......PVC with caps ? Reply:BC,I use the PVC tubes for storing filler.The only difference from the photo shown, is I cut my tubes 38" and glue both end caps. Then I'll cut the tubes back 6" from the end. I'll glue a straight union to the shorter piece.That way, when I remove the 6" cap, I'll have a few inches of filler sticking out the tube. Reply:I use the same concept as Sundown, just with a male and female threaded coupling in place of the union.Mine are cut at 20 and 16, but I wish they were a 28 and 8, as the rods splay out a bit, so putting the cap back on takes two hands.Who is John Galt?

Reply:Hey B_C,I also used PVC for my storage system & made a couple brackets for under my storage rack next to my TIG table. I had some rubber end caps from work I use to cover the ends. Reply:It's not a cabinet but this is how I store mine. Lower sections are 14" so I can run the filler rod down to 16" or so and still get it out of the tube. Shorter sections get tacked together and go back in for next time. To do it again I'd use some larger tubes to accommodate a full sleeve of SS or CS filler. Reply:BC,If you go with the shorter tubes, or even the full length tubes in a box of some sort, install a golden rod in the bottom of the box.Will keep your filler nice and dry on those humid days.The golden rods are small (about 3/4" in dia) heating tubes, that were designed for reducing humidity in closets. We used them a lot on boat closets and rod storage cabinets. Use a lot in gun cabinets. You can check them out at Midway on the net.I keep my mig wire in an old four drawer filing cabinet. Got one golden rod in the bottom of the cabinet and it keeps my wire rust free. Reply:They'd probably generate just enough heat (about 20 watts) to melt the ice cream.Here on the east coast, near the water, we have a real problem with humidity.
