I'm pretty sure I've seen some cutting torch sets described as propylene/propane and I've seen others specifically sold as one or the other, but not both. Are the cutting tips used for propylene similar enough to the ones used for propane that I'd be able to use either fuel? Or are the tips not interchangeable between the two fuels?Thank you!!
Reply:Smith torches require different tips. My propane tips are good for propane and natural gas. The propylene tips are only good for propylene based fuels."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I can use propane with my propylene tips, done it many times when the tank runs dryDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:The recess in th end of the two tips is a little different.  The flame will be hottest and cut best with the correct tip.  I would always try to match the correct tip for the gas, but they will work with either gas.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
