tig time

ok was playing around with a tig machine my buddy let me use it because i said I wanted to learn to tig. Here's a photo of some of the beads I ran tips and pointers are welcome.Miller maxstar 150 set at 70 amps 1/8 inch plate.Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .

Reply:Any way... Abrasive pad, flap wheel, grinder... Essentially, by any means necessary.
Reply:Also, at the end of your weld, slowly let off the accelerator, by that I mean, slowly let off the pedal , it should help with the dimples at the ends of your beads, do this to prevent crater cracks.

Reply:X3 clean metal,clean weld . X2 on slow decelleration at the end if the bead, hold the nozzle over the puddle while your post flow is running. This will prevent cracks by protecting the puddle as it cools. I'd say turn your amps up a little and don't feed so much rod in and the bead should smooth out. Keep it up! I lovve tig
Reply:clean metal first.....then while your running a bead get into a rythum....get a puddle formed, then dip (in the same spot), move forward, , then dip, and repeat. Reply:Looks like you may have cleaned the rust off that pipe on a bench grinder and not got it quite clean enough. Did your arc turn green while welding this? Reply:Looking good so far. I usually wipe my material down with acitone after I grind the scale off to clean off the dust. Just my .02 worth.Century Powermate 100 ( my first welder)Lincoln Precision TIG 185
