Here are some welds i have been doing on scrap plate. I am self taught and have been welding for a short period of time. Any advise would be appreciated.all the 7018 was lincoln 3/32 rods at around 100amps AC6011 was licoln 3/32 dont remember the amps but i think like 80. also AC using a harber freight 220volt machine that goes up to 135ampsFar right few are 6011 rest are 7018, dont mind the real ugly one that was my brotherclose up of the 6011close of 7018, not sure why i got the porosity on thaat onesame thing with the porosity
Reply:Your beads with 7018 are not too shabby for a beginner and using AC I suspect the porosity you are getting at the start of your beads is from too long an arc. With 7018 you have to keep close while with 6011 you can get away with your rod too high. If you purchase rod look for E 6011P . The "P" stands for postassium that stabilizes the arc more for AC welding. Yes my bother does all my crappy welds also... Even my Mother doesn't know I have a brother LOL
Reply:It all looks too fast. Porosity is either rod that has been out too long, arc gap too long, or any impurities you didnt clean.Judging by the apperance of the weld bead, you long-arced it. Overall not that bad for noob...Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120
Reply:Do MORE! try to be more consistent with arc length, travel speed and electrode angle.Looking good. DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
