I'm considering the purchase of this plasma cutter, and had a question regarding these "consumable" parts. There seems to be several individual pieces that make up the tip assembly, which pieces are most often replaced and after how many hours of torch use do you have to replace these parts? Do I need to have replacement parts on hand by the dozens, or is 3-4 extras fine?To help answer my question, this new tool would be for in my home workshop (hobby work), and would be replacing my chop saw and a/o torch set.Thank you!
Reply:I get my consumables here. http://www.hypermaxonline.com/The parts that erode are the electrodes and nozzles. They run about $6 each. The wear is a combination of pierces and cut time. The price ratio I get is about $12 per $600 of production. I price each pierce the same as a foot of cutting.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I've had my HT45 for a year and a half and I'm a hobbyist, but I've cut a lot of metal with it. I'm on my original set of consumables. The tip seems to wear more than the electrode. I'm not gonna change it till I need very precision cuts. It still works great.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:I bought the spare consumables kit when I got the PM45. As others have said, the shield deflector has been my most frequent replacement. I think I've bought two in the past 18 months. I used a couple of electrodes (the kit has several.) I like to keep at least one spare shield deflector on hand. I keep the old one around just in case. For the other consumables, most have not been replaced and the kit is plenty. The LWS is a Hypertherm dealer so they can get what I need if they don't have it in stock.
