not really sure the size of the trailer but for 25 buck the metal is worth more, but my plans would be to make it tow able then put on a pressure treated wood deck and weld rails around it and maybe but on a ramp, what do you think the total cost would be,thanks nick
Reply:Can't say without picts. I've seen any number of "trailers" that aren't even worth $25. Trying to make an old boat trailer or popup into something it's not usually isn't worth the time and effort. I've seen way to many guys who want to turn 2K rated POS trailers into toy haulers and other stupid things.Major mods or structural changes on trailers are not learning projects. Designing or making major mods to a trailer isn't something you do on the fly. Reply:I'd pass. Looks like an old popup frame. With trailers like that the sides form a large part of the structure. Without it, they can't hold any weight at all. I doubt the axle is rated for more than 2K tops. You'd be lucky if there's $25 in scrap there. The "frame" is probably 1/8" or less and pretty much useless for most things..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Actually, for $25 it might not be that bad, well, as long as you're not using it as a trailer. If the metal is in decent shape, you might be able to salvage it and make something out of it. Nothing fancy, and nothing to sell perhaps, but maybe something cool for your shop or whatever. But as to the original question, no, I wouldn't buy that to fix up.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:That's one of those deals that if someone brought it over I'd take it. I wouldn't pay for it and dern sure wouldn't go drag it home."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:That looks like it would make a real fine trailer, all you need to do is replace the coupler, tongue, side rails, cross members, springs, axle, bearings, wheels, tires, wiring, lights, safety chains, decking and any other trailer part I may not have mentioned. Then it would be OK, you could probably still re-use the air in the tires though.
