Was wondering what you guys are using for Mig Wire. .035 I started out using Lincoln L56 which I got pretty used to, then a friend of mine brought me over a spool of Hobart stuff that I somehow misplaced the box for so I don't remember what it was, but It's gone now and It was the best stuff I've ever used. It seemed to make the puddle flow a lot smoother then the Lincoln wire. I was also able to weld a lot hotter without burntrough with it. Too bad I don't know what it was. Anyways, I'm not really trying to find out what the Hobart wire was, I'm just looking to see what other people are using for wire and haveing success with.
Reply:I have good luck with Harris wire.  ER70S-6Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch
Reply:I have had good luck with Lincoln wire as well. Tried radnor once. I was not impressed.
Reply:I have used plenty of McKay S-6 and always loved it."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:L56 is designated ER70S-6 and is probably the most common wire used today due to its deoxidizers which make it suitable for welding mildly dirty or rusty plate. The Hobart wire taht you used could have been ER70S-3 which I have found to flow better, but must be used only for welding clean metal. The S-6 is usually cheaper now days because it is produced in greater volume. Another wire that performs very well when high strength or x-ray quality welds are needed is ER80S-D2. Personally, I have never noticed a great difference in solid wires from different suppliers that fall under the same classification.
Reply:Thankyou Pro-Fab. I have found out that the wire I was using before was an ER80S-D2.
Reply:Of the ER70S-6 I find they all work pretty much the same until I use Pulsed spray, then lincoln L56 stands WAY out front.  Esab is probably second.  Used to be called Linde86 now I think its just spoolarc 86.    The lincoln L56 12.5 lb spool will not fit in my Miller Passport.  A 12 lb spool of anything else will. DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
