Reply:What price can be put on the time the members here offer-up just to help guys like me learn? To ALL that  have taken the time to tell me what I needed to hear in order to push me to do better, You have helped change the possibilities for my future! I thanks you as well as my family. This may be a hobby for some but to me it means work. Work in a field I've  come to truly enjoy. It's my hope to continue to learn as much as I can from those ,like you, willing to lend a hand. I know this is just the beginning but it's a great start thank to the members here. My instructor was"Blown Away " that I could pass these tests in just 2 months! Thanks again! One Happy Gizzmo Last edited by gizzmo; 09-25-2013 at 04:29 PM.
Reply:Guess what gizzmo, you'll never stop learning this trade! If you could have gotten one on one instruction, you would have passed these tests in a week or two. I know, I have taught several people how to pass these tests in no time.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:Congrats! As mentioned you never stop learning if you truly want to excel. That goes for just about everything in life. If you want to really thank everyone who has helped you, pay it forward and help others in the future. At some point possibly later in life it may be you in the position to help someone who is looking to change their life. Take the initiative to step up and lend a hand..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Probably a lot more critical today then it was back when we were kids. It's sad so few today know how to work with their hands. I was lucky enough to have "access" to a lot of dads thru Scouts who had different hobbies and careers and were willing to show and teach kids. I look at a lot of kids today and see guys in their late teens early 20's that couldn't build a simple box with basic tools because they never learned any construction skills at all..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Last year about this time a very good friend of mine, who we worked together as partners, foreman, and superintendents called, said he just got his nephew by marriage in the union apprenticeship. Starting at $20.00 an hour + benefits. He wanted to know if I would show this kid the proper way to setup and use a torch before he went out on the job site. Once he got here I told him I could really jump start him if he wanted to learn how to weld. He came over several times before he got called for work. Several months went by, and he called said the job was on hold for a few weeks, and he wanted to start back welding. Kid showed up on time the first day, next 2 or 3 days he was late. You should have seen his face when he showed up late the next day and I had all his stuff setting outside the shop, when he pulled in I told him to pack up his sh!t and hit the bricks! I told him now work all day, go to school at night, few weeks of that, then you'll know what you just Fked up! Called another good buddy of mine who is a member here, JAS. He did some checking around said the kid got run off for being late too many times. When this kid told me his job was on hold, I thought that was funny, because he was on a 3 or 4-year project. These kids now a days just don't get it. People open doors for them, but they fk it up!Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
