Hi! I am not a pro in welding so I'm looking for your advice. The question is super-duplex to inconel 625 welding. Do we need buttering to avoid brittle fracture? or PWHT for example?
Reply:You cant PWHT Duplex. Duplex is not suppose to get over 300 degrees while you are welding. Per procedure. I weld ALOT of both of these metals. Inco can take the heat, but Duplex cant.My hood and I... Till death do us part
Reply:Thank you very much!
Reply:Manishe,To my opinion the only reason to perform buttering is to avoid PWHT (if it requires) after completion of the welding. In such a case you shall perform PWHT after completion of buttering (). Regarding the PWHT, it basically depends on the construction code (eg, the ASME VIII Div. 1 doesn't specify PWHT for duplex SS with P-number: 10H instead the API 582 specifies). Regarding some tips for this welding, you shall weld with specific welding consumable (ERNiCrMo-3 filler metal, if you are to weld using GTAW process, or the corresponding filler metal using any other process), keep low the heat input and use interpass temperature not more than 120 deg C regardspw35Last edited by 7A749; 09-30-2013 at 08:16 PM. |
