When measuring a convex fillet weld and you get varying sizes, which is the correct size? Shortest length of leg ,longest length or some average? also same question for concave fillet weld. any help appreciated.
Reply:I would think a welding inspector is only going to give you credit for the smallest amount. Most of the time they want volume. I think most people believe the legs are suppose to be out to the notch in the metal. It's actually the black lines. Reply:I would agree that the smallest section on a convex fillet would be what the size would be considered as. On a concave weld, the sides won't be as important as the throat depth would be the determining factor. |
