So just finished this... It's a bar stool? Or a... Okay not sure what it is... I stole the design from here I think? But too be honest I search the web high and low for beginner projects so hard to keep track of the source... But I thought it was cool... I made it to practice my welding... Been wanting to make a dedicated welding table but wanted to practice on a few smaller projects first to improve my technique.... And I wanted to try out doing miter edges... So a few questions:I drilled little holes to make sure I didn't have a "blow out" which I guess happens as you close up the last edge? Do I understand that right? And on the last leg it pulled/separated and had some shrinkage (or my measuring was off which is very possible) so I have to figure out the right way to close the quarter of an inch gap for future projects. I have ran into this issue a lot... What is the right way to fix this?I got straps and pulled it close then did a lot of heavy beads on top of each other to close it then grind smooth.Still haven't learned the right way to do it? Would be to get a new length that fits or cut a small plate or piece to fill it? So I am using a Miller 210 and have it set on auto setting and the metal was 11gauge thick. I am in the very very very very beginner stages I have learned everything from YouTube videos and a few books but want improve. I now prep the area by wire brushing the surface and wipe it down with mineral spirits. I notice my beads are very thick not the lower smooth beads... And I have been keeping my hand steady and trying to make cursive C's...Any help and suggestions would be great! Last edited by Ramsey; 10-15-2013 at 05:46 PM.
