If I should that is... its just a very small thing on the thumb
Reply:Buy new ones.... If there's one thing you shouldn't cheap out on it's safety. Good gloves are made from elk skin, cow skin, pig skin in other words leather. If you were to sew your welding gloves back together I'm sure the yarn would burn pretty easily. The way I see it... I prefer spending a couple bucks on new gloves than a visit to the hospital cause you got a third degree burn with a big blister on that thumb! Not too mention the heat passes through the leather! Was running some vertical up the other day and a nice chunk of molten metal landed on my leather jacket.... I felt the heat on that one
Reply:Kevlar if you have to see them. I'd just get a new pair.Millermatic 210 & 300Miller 330 a/bp w/Miller coolmate 3Lincoln 225 ac/dc buzz box200amp Hobart 16hp portable welderCarbon arc torch, oxy/acy, plasma cutterCNC plasma table

Reply:.023"  70s6 usually works
Reply:Nathan, I think your glue gun would work better than 70s6 IMHO.  Some of my gloves are burnt up pretty good from plasma torching but I use em anyway.
Reply:You can get Kevlar thread at places like Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop.  In the fishing section."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:Take a shot at sewing, why not- but sewing is a mix of science and art just like welding is. You'd likely do just fine if you're sewing up a split seam, but if you try to close a hole you may wind up creating another imperfection that feels uncomfortable to wear, and wind up buying a new pair.
Reply:i bet some of that kevlar fishing line would work.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:Kevlar fishing line, that's what I use on leather aprons. Have been tempted to sew some of my gloves, some of my fingers are short and do not fit well.
Reply:ebay has kevlar and nomex thread if you for some reason need to be fancy. Or if you only need a little bit, take some from an old glove.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:glue x2
Reply:I tape the holes over with duct tape.
Reply:Oldendum, thanks for suggesting Cabeelas string. I need some for a plumb bob and chalk line thing. Ive tried speed lines for retractible plumb bobs but they are difficult so Im using an old fashoined (not speed line) chalk line / plumb bob / fishin line/kevlar.Last edited by Insaneride; 10-25-2013 at 09:40 PM.Reason: dont mess w/speedline they bite
Reply:DUCT TAPE aka duck tape.
