Hey just wondering who prefers what size of lense.  I'm using a pipeliner an like it a lot but wanting to get a back up. I do alot of flux core welding on vessels an want something durable. Been thinking bout going with a big lense but what brand would you recommend ? Thanks again! !!Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Reply:for me 2x4.. nothing better than a chopped pipeliner hood.Dave
Reply:ill send you a new miller big lens for your pipeliner
Reply:what you gonna do with a big lens and pipeliner? it won't fit.
Reply:Why not get a piperliner to back up your pipeliner haha. The pipeliner is one of the best around as it stands. You could get a standard Miller MP-10 flip down.Miller Maxstar 200 SDPiperliner #10 Gold
Reply:oh i do. pipeliner with hooks for hardhat, pipeliner with ratchet strap.

Reply:I would suggest checking out the North Products 8109 Prota Shell. You can get them in 2x4 or 4x4 whatever you like. I got one about 2 years ago and love it its light as a feather. I have a pipeliner too but it has been retired to the garage at home. Due to the fact that it feels like wearing a cinder block on your head. Compared with the North.
Reply:The North hood looks like a Pipeliner or Tigerhood with optional flip front. Seems like a pretty good buy to me, but the only place I found it was Honeywell's euro website. Any place they sell it in the US? You can't beat the pipeliner hood for durability. Considering it's material, compared to average plastic or "thermoplastic" hoods. Jackson has that leather welding hood, seems like a good bet for flux core and confined spaces. Might end up with one myself.I'm really just hoping Jackson starts selling Balder auto dark lenses in the future. I'd love to get one. I just don't want the Jackson hood.
Reply:akabadnews I do not know if North has a US distributor, but if they do I would be glad to hear it. I work with an English immigrant and its the only screen he will wear. So he ordered about 3 of them from across the pond a couple years ago and I got one off him. I know he made an order not long after that to get us some Fuji stingers, but had problems with them getting through customs.
Reply:Back in the early 70's I had a hood that I believe said Tiger on the sticker. It had the large lens (4 or 5" square?) and it was long with a straight bottom. It was nice to tilt up for overhead or odd positions. It also protected my long (ZZ Top style) beard, lol. It was very light weight. But- I did wish I could have had the filter flip up like the smaller lens versions.
Reply:I have two tiger fibremetal hoods with flip 2x4s.  one has a ratchet headset and the other has a rubber band strap.  I typically wear the rubber band hood.  It is more comfortable.  I have been waiting for them to wear out so I can buy another huntsman with a slide lens.
