mig torch movement or no torch movement

I have a newbie querstion, When mig welding sould i make circles or zig zags or should I simply lay a stringer bead?  I was told that when you make circles or other movements you can cause porosity or weaken the weld. I am pushing the torch.  Thanks

Reply:All the above.  It all depends. ..The circles and zig zags, half moons, the x-mas tree, capitol L ,ect it all depends.   Lap joint, corner joint and fillet joint .  Thickness of material is a big one. Myself and others use a little of everything.  Im not the biggest fan of stringers mostly because seldom does the situation require it.  But I know some guys that will only do stringers, but those guys arent frequently tested in unlimited GMAW either.Saw tooth methods/motion are taught and accepted practice for certain situations. Just one of those things that has no perfect answer. weld it like you own it

Reply:Do one side of a T single pass doing any move you want, then bend it over and break it open and look at the root. Do one side of a T single pass using a straight stringer, then bend it over and break it open and look at the root. Decide for yourself which is better. Reply:guess it depends what your doing i heard of a local kid here who was kicked off a job for doing the mig like tig look and the inspector said every time he whipped back into the puddle he contaminated it and caused pinholes350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
