...ok guys (and gals), here is my first ever TIG project on my Dynasty.I was running low on camera battery, so it's a bit rushed. Maybe that's why I couldn't get the best focus on the weld - or maybe it's just the camera. (or the operator!)Man, I got so excited after fusing the 16 ga. together for the first time ever!!!!!!! I showed my wife and she was like...ummm, nice? Welding is awesome!!!!! Ha Ha!!!!!(no spam or advertising in my vids...)
Reply:I cannot believe I did this!!!!!!! ^  The grind marks are from removing a galvanized coating before welding. I did not dress up the weld. No filler, 16 ga. mild steel. I took pics, because the video was a bit fuzzy.^ This is fused, also. 16 ga welded to 3/16". I got it a little hot at the end, and the bottom fell out. I did build up the end (top) with some 1/16" filler.Checking for fit. If tomorrow is nice, I will give it a proper spraybombing with some Rustoleum.Alright pros, please critique my work.
Reply:No pro here, but very nice clean work and great welds.  I imagine you've tigged before with other machines.  I'm gonna post pics of my first Dynasty project soon as well. Can you post some pics of your brake?  I need to build a small one.Last edited by Drf255; 03-10-2012 at 04:34 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:Thanks!I have a video on the brake in the projects forum here. If you'd like more pics, I can post them to that thread if you'd like.I had a SD180 about two years ago, but could never do anything with it. I practiced for about 10 hours on a 3/16" piece of aluminum and just couldn't figure out what I was doing at all, so I basically gave up. I was able to cobble an exhaust tip extension on my KLR650's muffler before selling the TIG, but it was a horrendous weld. Beauty is a grinder away. I bought a MM252 MIG and the 180 literally started collecting dust. So the above vid / pics is the most success I've ever had with TIG, and the very first time ever doing a fusion weld, so I'm very excited!! I'm going to try a small aluminum project next.
Reply:Now that you are happy with your machine, it will only get better from here. Confidence is a big part of it and it sounds like you getting more as you go. Good luck.

Reply:Scrapwelder, nice project and welds!  Like that table, Kindorf sure comes in handy, strong too.  Bob
Reply:Thanks, Bob!Yeah, I've been finding all kinds of uses for the strut and flatbar. My little TIG project looks a bit better after a rattle can treatment  ...
