Trailblazer 301g weak output

I have a miller tb301g it's a 2002 with under 200 hrs the boards fried in it about 100 hrs ago so I had them replaced. All was well until It started welding weak. Welds good at about 140amps with 1/8 7018 but when I turn it up to run 5/32 7018 it doesn't burn in well. I can turn it all the way up and it doesn't weld 1/8 7018! I've changed the potentiometer and still no difference. It should explode the 1/8 rod at 300 amps! I don't have a way to check the amperage but I know how it should weld. I need it hot enough to arc gouge. I am new to this forum Any help would be much appreciated
Reply:I have the same machine.  I have found that the 50 amp breaker switch makes a difference.  Can't remember if on or off. Then just last week I was distracted while hooking up my leads and hooked to the C/V stud instead of the electrode output. I burnt half a rod and knew there was something wrong. I thought my machine had let me down. The problem was me. Mine is a great machine with great arc control. Everyone talks about how great the SA Lincoln's are. I guess I need to try one some time to see what all the fuss is about. Dan D
Reply:I'm sure it's not the breaker. I have a 76 model sa200 that has always been better and smoother than any other machine I've ran, you can't beat um. Only downfall is dc generator and its always thirsty. It has the red seal engine. I did put it in place of my trailblazer while its down. Reply:I don't know if I should fix the trailblazer or just try to sell it. I know I'll be scared it's gonna screw up again. What do you guys suggest ? Local shop with good rep said new board was about 560.00 then called back and said miller upgraded the board and cost was now around 750.00! That sucks!!! Any suggestions? Reply:If your gouging with it you have probably killed it. If you need to gouge you are going to have to get a machine that can do the job. Over the years I have seen many small portables killed in a short time by using them to power an arc/air torch.
