where do ya get your stock?

Detroit local here, but, where do y'all get your stock for personal projects? Better questions is, where do y'all suggest I go to get stock for personal projects? I don't have much available to me from job leftovers and whatnot. Mild steel and various aluminum mostly. But at work we have some 2" solid square stock that's used to pick up 300# forging dies that would be cool to get ahold of also.How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!
