Reply:Cool Stuff! Thanks for sharing that...We had an old Westinghouse motor-generator machine at the plant where I started. It was ancient when I got there and it looked almost like the one in that book!

Reply:my great grandfather was a welder in those days, and did alot of bare wire stick welding which of course as you guys know wouldnt yeild the most "sound" welds haha. He said as time went on they started experiementing with all sorts of coatings and the first actual cullositic type coating was literally newspaper wrapped around the rod in a type of "paper machet" type consistancy and then dried. Told me of stories of welding up pipelines all with oxy/acet. I have alot of respect for those guys thats for sure!
