En 15614-1 fw single run throat thickness

Hello,I am creating a WPQR according to 15614, It's a single run process and I need to calculate the throat thickness. For single run,throat thickness shall be "0,75a to 1,5 a" but I couldn't find anything related with the "a" in 15614. How am I supposed to calculate "a" ?  Thank you best regards
Reply:For throat thickness; a max = 0,7t   a min: √tmax - 0,5. Should I use the average value of "a max and a min" ? Thanks
