i have a lincwelder 225 dc and im looking to get a wire feeder for it. is it passably to run a wire feeder off it and if so what kind of feeder wood work thanks
Reply:what is the code/serial number? If it is the welder i think it is, you have a stick welder.only a Voltage sensing across the arc feeder will work when set in CC mode. Like A LN25.But with larger flux-core wire. For the price of a LN 25. you can buy a small lincoln power mig welder. A 140 or 180 and have money left over.
Reply:Ya I have a pro mig 140 but my lincwelder dc 225 gen the out put power is 50cycle and my mig is 60cyele like a so I can't run it off of it
Reply:A vs wire feeder like the LN-25 is what your looking for...one that can run on a CC welderBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:from your first description of your welder. I could not tell if it was engine driven or plugged into the wall. Lincwelder described both types at one time.Look on the welder front for words like constant voltage, constant current or variable voltage. A stick welder is a constant current / variable voltage machine and does not weld with wire well. Most people want to mig weld with 030 or 035 wire. A LN 25 will feed this type of wire BUT it will not weld right on a CC welder. you will need a CV welder for small wire mig welding.
Reply:ok it is a engine driven dc 225 it don't say cc or cv so do that mean it wont work here is a pic of my welder Attached Images
Reply:If it doesn't say CV you can assume it's only a CC stick machine. As mentioned a VS type feeder will work on a CC stick machine to run large diameter FC wire. However it will do a poor job running smaller solid wire in short circuit mig, which is what most people think of when they think of "mig". If you need to lay down lots of material on 1/4" or thicker steel, them maybe a VS feeder will do what you want, if the machine has enough balls to run that wire. If you want to weld up thin steel like auto body stuff, then it's not for you.Chances are most times as mentioned, a dedicated stand alone mig is a better choice and will run you about what a good used VS feeder will set you back..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:There is a whole world of gas less T-11 flux core wire out there. Here is some .045" NR-212 run with a 47-year old engine drive with no CV box, and an LN-25. Reply:Oh, I should have included these pictures of some Lincoln L-56 Mig wire run with the same equipment, and C-25 gas. Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:You could call Lincoln and ask them if your promig will be damaged if run on your welder. A lot of these welders are designed to run on 50 or 60 cycle power.
